Watch Designers:

Accutron : For more than 120 years - from the moment 23-year-old-Czech immigrant Joseph Bulova set up shop in New York City in 1875 - the name Bulova has symbolized a uniquely American blend of old-world craftsmanship and new-world innovation. Bulova has even been to the moon - courtesy of its breakthrough Accutron time mechanism, an integral feature of NASA technology from the late '50s through the first moon walk in 1969. Today, one of the world's most recognized brands, and still wholly U.S. owned and operated, Bulova is dedicated to upholding its legacy of creativity and excellence, forging new directions in a classic American tradition.

Ever wonder when and why watches stopped ticking and started humming? The unmistakable tuning fork logo on every Accutron tells the story.

In the late 1950s, Accutron launched a fully electronic watch that measured time with an oscillating tuning fork, in effect creating a new standard for timekeeping precision. To watch collectors the world over, that quiet whirr was the first sound of the coming electronic age. Designed in America and handcrafted in Switzerland, Accutron watch is a timepiece of such extraordinary quality and reliability that every watch is backed by an exclusive 25-year limited warranty. History was made in Japan's timepiece industry in 1881, when K. Hattori & Co., Ltd. (later renamed Seiko Corporation) began wholesaling and retailing imported watches and clocks. In 1892, Seikosha Co., Ltd., the Seiko Group's first manufacturing division, was established to make wall clocks. But in terms of industrial history, Japan's most significant contribution was the development of the quartz watch.   Visit the Seiko website
